Vitamin C

Vitamin C

Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is a potent antioxidant. It reduces oxidative stress and helps decrease inflammation. It also plays an important role in numerous body functions and enzyme reactions.

While it is possible to receive health benefits by supplementing with oral vitamin C, your body naturally limits the amount of vitamin C that is absorbed through your gastrointestinal (GI) tract. To stimulate healing, blood plasma levels need to increase to higher levels than is possible through diet or oral supplementation.

IV vitamin C is a very safe and effective therapy for the vast majority of people and is beneficial in both preventing and helping heal acute and chronic illnesses. It can be used to support normal body functions as well as the immune system.

High dose vitamin C can be administered as a stand alone infusion or as part of one of our wellness cocktails.

High dose vitamin C has been shown to have numerous health benefits. It can decrease cold and flu symptoms by up to 85% when given at the first appearance of symptoms. It has also been shown to be beneficial in reducing pain after an injury or after surgery.

The evidence is also growing for its role as a partner in chemotherapy. Multiple studies have shown that intravenous vitamin C improves quality of life, reduces fatigue and other chemotherapy side effects. By improving tolerance, it could allow a patient to receive optimal doses of chemotherapy when they may not have otherwise. Furthermore, studies have indicated that high dose vitamin C has been shown to have anti-tumor and chemosensitizing properties. It may be preferentially toxic to tumor cells and inhibit angiogenesis (blood vessel formation that supplies a tumor). The evidence is not strong enough to support vitamin C as a stand alone cancer treatment, but it can be an excellent addition. We strongly encourage you to work closely with your oncologist.

Low levels of vitamin C have been associated with increased severity of allergic conditions like allergic rhinitis (allergies), asthma, and atopic dermatitis (eczema). Vitamin C decreases oxidative stress, inflammation, and helps to significantly reduce histamine within the body. High dose vitamin C has been found to be a beneficial therapy in the management of these conditions and many more.

G6PD lab test will be required prior to infusion.
